Honeymoon Activities on Koh Samui

Koh Samui is a very popular destination for newlyweds to go on their honeymoon. If you and your loved one have just recently gotten married, renting or purchasing villas on Koh Samui will give you access to a wide selection of potential romantic activities.

As an island in a tropical climate, Koh Samui has plenty of beaches. Beaches can be a great place for newlyweds on their honeymoon to spend a relaxing day together. Chaweng Beach is the most popular beach on the island, though as a result, you won’t get much privacy.

Spending time at Chaweng would be better suited for newlyweds who want to party with others while on their honeymoon. Lamai Beach and Mae Nam Beach tend to attract fewer people, so if you are looking for a little more privacy, you can spend a day at one of those beaches. Still, public beaches will always attract at least a bit of a crowd, so if you want a beach to yourself, you may want to look into any villas with private beaches.

Koh Samui also offers a number of restaurants where you and your loved one can spend a romantic evening.  9Gems is a restaurant and lounge, and is one of the most popular places to dine on the island. The restaurant offers stunning views of Chaweng Beach and the island’s inland mountains. There is also a private table on the roof you and your loved one can dine at, though you have to book the table 24 hours in advance.  Tree Tops Restaurant offers dining outdoors, with each of the restaurant’s eight tables situated in its own treehouse. However, it can be tough to get reservations here due to its popularity and limited seating, so make sure to reserve your table well in advance.

Cruises are another romantic activity offered on Koh Samui. Thai Island Cruising has one vessel, The Diamond, which can hold up to 14 people at once. You can take trips to the surrounding islands for half-day and full-day trips. Boutique Yachting offers a Boutique dinner cruise package that allows you and your loved one to dine out on the waters surrounding the island while watching the sunset. It also offers the Samui island cruise, which takes you on a sightseeing tour of the Five Islands.

How’s the weather on Koh Samui

One of the biggest draws for people renting or purchasing villas on Koh Samui is the weather. The weather is warm pretty much year round. However, there are some differences in the weather depending on what time of year it is, so learning more about it may help you decide when the best time might be for you to head to Koh Samui.

Temperatures on Koh Samui are almost always warm, but there are times when it is warmer, and times when it is somewhat cooler.  During the dry season on the island, which lasts from December to February, low temperatures tend to range from 75 to 77. High temperatures, meanwhile, tend to range from 84 to 86. This is generally the coolest time of the year.

Low temperatures during the hot season, which lasts from March to August, usually range from 77 to 79. High temperatures usually range from 86 to 91, though it is not unheard of for temperatures to hit 100. As the name “hot season” suggests, this is the hottest time for Koh Samui.

May, in particular, tends to be the hottest month of the year. Temperatures cool back down a bit during the rainy season, which lasts from September to November. Lows range from 75 to 77, while highs range from 86 to 89.

Being in a tropical climate, Koh Samui sees its fair share of rain, though there are times when it is more likely to rain, and other times when it is less likely. As you might expect, the dry season is when the island sees the least amount of rain.

Monthly rainfall totals average from less than an inch to around 5 inches, with December being the rainiest month during the dry season and February being the driest. Rain picks up a bit during the hot season, with monthly totals ranging from 2 inches to 6 inches.

March is the driest month during this period, while May is the rainiest. Of course, you can expect the most amount of rain during the rainy season.

Monthly rainfall averages between 7 and 10 inches. September is the driest month during this period, while November is the rainiest. November is also usually the rainiest month for Koh Samui for the entire year.
